In the English Standard Version (ESV), for example, "debauchery" is used to translate the Greek word "aselgeia," which is sometimes translated as "sensuality," "licentiousness," or "wantonness." This term refers to behavior that is excessively indulgent, especially with regard to sensual pleasures.

Here are a few examples of how the ESV uses "debauchery" in the New Testament:

• "Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality [aselgeia], not in quarreling and jealousy." (Romans 13:13)
