consilience definition

Date : 26-02-2023

Consilience is the principle that evidence and knowledge from different fields or disciplines can converge and reinforce each other, leading to a more complete and integrated understanding of a complex phenomenon. In other words, it refers to the unity of knowledge across various areas of inquiry, where diverse fields of study can come together to provide a coherent and comprehensive explanation of a particular phenomenon or problem. The term was popularized by the biologist E.O. Wilson in his book "Consilience: The Unity of Knowledge."
